Our Gardens
We currently have two distinct sites of cultivation, remediation and regeneration in the industrial district west of Commercial Drive.
– The Parker St. Garden is the first and the most fermented, where we hang out, share meals, and practice intensive, no-till annual cultivation, crop rotation, various forms of companion planting, and grow food and medicine alike.
– The Vernon St. Garden is where we grow pollinator plants, flowers and cover crops to help out our insect friends.
– Beekeeping
We currently have three beehives – Missbeehaven, Maybee, and Newbee – maintained by a collective of busy beekeepers. We practice sustainable beekeeping, learn about pollinators, and harvest honey, wax, and propolis from our hives. The beekeepers often visit the hives during our Sunday workparties – email hmjcarpendale@hotmail.com to get involved!
